Ivy Street School’s Legacy Society believes in better tomorrows. The generous donors have left bequests or created endowed funds to support the Ivy Street School in perpetuity. These donors are specially recognized for their visionary decision to leave a philanthropic legacy that will benefit their neighbors and communities for decades and centuries to come.
Bequests are used to support special initiatives and to build our endowment. Bequests make it possible for Ivy Street School to invest in new programs, create innovative solutions to emerging problems, and sustain current services.
Thank you for supporting our mission and our future.
To make a bequest to Ivy Street School, please include the following language in your will:
I give, devise, and bequeath to Ivy Street School the sum of _____________ (or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate).
There are three ways to make a bequest:
- Specific Bequest: You designate a specific dollar amount, specific percentage, or specific property to Ivy Street School.
- Residual Bequest: Your estate will pay all debts, taxes, expenses, and specific bequests. The remaining amount — the residual — will be transferred to the Ivy Street School.
- Contingent Bequest: You can ask that the Ivy Street School receive all or a portion of your estate only under certain circumstances. For example, you can name Ivy Street School as a beneficiary of your estate only if there are no surviving close family members. Childless couples sometimes provide for the entire estate to go to the surviving spouse, or if the spouse does not survive, to Ivy Street School.
Please consult with your own tax, legal, or financial planning advisor for more information.
There are many options for planned giving. Often, a donor makes a major gift to a charity under an arrangement that not only provides a tax deduction but also a continuing source of income for the donor. At the end of the donor’s life, the charity receives the remainder of the gift.
Your financial advisor can provide you with advice and detailed information about these instruments. If you would like to discuss a planned giving opportunity with Ivy Street School, please contact David Brown at 617-732-0241 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for considering Ivy Street School as you plan for the future.
