Pediatric Brain Injury Workshop

The workshop was Thursday, April 3 at the Ivy Street School. Workshop topics were:
Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury 101: Implications for Rehabilitation and Education by Douglas Katz, MD, and Behavioral Supports for Students Following Brain Injury with Ron Allen, PhD, BCBA-D, CBIS and Mike Mozzoni, PhD, BCBA-D, CBIST. Each year, thousands of school-age children sustain injury to their brain. The consequences for educational and social success can be catastrophic. The workshop provided an overview of the behavioral challenges often observed following injury to the brain, and presented an overview of successful assessment and treatment based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.

The Excellence in Special Education Summit is sponsored by the John Pratt Memorial Fund at the Ivy Street School, and the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts. John served as Associate Director of the Whitehead Institute for twenty five years. He was also a member of the MAB Board and cared deeply about the work that the Ivy Street School does to help young people with brain injuries and other neurological problems develop the skills they need to lead successful lives as adults. The John Pratt Memorial Fund is dedicated to facilitating the impact of research on practice at the School in order to improve student outcomes. John would be delighted to have this as part of his legacy.

Co-sponsored by the Ivy Street School and the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts
