An Ivy Street School students tends to the school's urban garden

Ivy Street School's urban garden has been featured in the Brookline Tab!

The garden has become an annual tradition here at the school, and beyond teaching the students about gardening, it also provides theraeutic and nutritional benefits.

At forty square feet, the garden lives just outside the school in our bucolic Brookline neighborhood and contains a myriad of herbs and vegetables, which are incoporated into our culinary program. This farm-to-table aspect not only gives students nutritious meals with fresh ingredients, but it also gives them a true sense of accomplishment.

In addition to the hard work of students and staff, the garden has attracted a number of outside volunteers who have selflessly given of their time to help maintain it. These include groups from the buildOn program, Takeda Oncology, and Boston Volunteers, as well as several individuals.
