Families
Family Empowerment and Learning Academy
At Ivy Street, we are committed to supporting students through dynamic and real-world learning, therapeutic supports, and community. Our work also includes you: our families. We are excited to launch this year’s parent learning, social connection, and support series with the goal of reducing shame around parenting youth with disabilities, building skills to use at home with your children, and creating community among our Ivy families.
All workshops, trainings, and support groups are held virtually 6:00-7:00pm.

Self-Determination Skills
This year, our Academy workshops focus on self-determination: supporting our young people in driving their own lives. Each month, we will review an essential skill for self-determination – diving into the skill itself while constructing an understanding of how we can support this skill development in our young people.
Team members from all specialties within Ivy Street will lead these workshops, bringing their unique expertise to each discussion.
Transition Workshop Series
Preparing for the transition out of high school is a complex process. In this series, we will walk through the various aspects of the process and work to understand each step.
Support
Caring for a young adult with disabilities comes with with unique challenges. Our Parent Support Groups provide an opportunity to connect over shared experiences and find common ground. Led by Ivy Street clinicians, these groups make space for families to discuss difficult topics and heal together.
Social Connection
We hold several events to support connection among our community and build upon our Ivy Street spirit!
Advocacy
Our families’ voices are essential in refining the work we do at Ivy Street. This year, will hold our Parent Advisory Group as a dedicated space for families to discuss the critical issues that impact their students and our school.
